Lincoln Heights Tutorial Program

Our programs and classes

Children learning at computers

Classes in computer literacy is only one of many services we offer to children and youth.

The Lincoln Heights Tutorial Program site (LHTP) currently has 9 classes, K-9th, Monday through Wednesday, from 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM, serving 105 children and youth, and our youth groups meet on Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. During Summer session, classes are Monday - Thursday, 4:00 - 6:00 PM, and our youth groups meet on Fridays from 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Children can come as early as 3:00 PM to begin homework in the computer lab, and work on programs on our Macintosh computers. Classes are by fixed enrollment, with most classes consisting of 8 students with 2 tutors. The class time is from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

The Chinatown Tutorial Program (CTP) is located in the middle of Chinatown. Classes began in 1997 and there are 3 classes serving 25 children, K-6th.

The Boyle Heights Tutorial Program (BHTP) is located in Boyle Heights, at the HYC facilities. This site began in 2008 and there are now 3 classes serving 25 children, K-8th.

All our tutorial sites provide a place where children can be mentored, receive homework help, advance in reading and math, engage in arts and crafts, learn on computers through educational software, and explore various places in Los Angeles through field trips. There are various positive merit opportunities for the children. Tutors from local colleges, local high school youth that are in our youth groups, and recent college graduates, help staff the tutorial programs.
